Co-owner and CEO, Yolunda Harrell came to Charlottesville in 2008 on the heels of a stellar career in sales and hotel & food management. During that time she, was appointed to manage one of a major, national hotel chain’s top revenue-producing properties. Along with her strong, professional skill set, she possesses an even more important set of family values, with which she brightens lives and touches souls through sharing her passion for southern cooking.
Mrs. Harrell's dream is to create a business that is a labor of love; she believes cooking while empowering others is the way. Soon after her arrival in Charlottesville, Yolunda ascertained there was a need in the area for the warm, loving southern cuisine she grew up eating in her hometowns of Alabama and South Carolina. Her menu choices, southern values, and spiritual approach to cooking establishes an unequivocal distinction between A Taste of Home Southern Cuisine and the area’s typical “soul food” establishments. Hiring, training, and empowering talented people who have suffered various socioeconomic impediments to gainful employment will contribute to ATOHSC’s mission and uplift the spirit of the owners as well as the community.
